A private practice Chiropractor with over 13 years experience An Dau, Doctor of Chiropractic, is a highly experienced Chiropractor having graduated with a BSc. from the University of New South Wales, majoring in Physiology and Anatomy before completing a postgraduate Masters in Chiropractic. Moving to Scotland in 2000, An opened her own private practice in Linlithgow in 2005. Then, she discovered cold laser technology.

“I began working with cold laser technology around four years ago for a number of neurological and physiological conditions,” explains An. “There were great technological advancements during that time and, as part of my professional training that I undertake each year, I went to a seminar in 2008. It was held by Lance Armstrong’s personal Chiropractor and a Chiropractic Neurologist who showed me the incredible applications of one company’s cold laser technology to improve brain function and human performance.

“The company had also started a research wing into using the lasers for pre-liposuction procedures and found it halved healing times, reduced bruising and pain. The technology made traditional liposuction procedures safer, but when they started to use the technology on its own to give people a non-invasive, pain free alternative I was really intrigued.”

An began researching the technology on fat cells, going over to the United States to meet with top cosmetic doctors who were using the technology for body sculpting, trialling it herself. After just one 40-minute treatment she lost two inches.

“The popularity of the procedure and its results were just off the scale in states and it had only been released two years ago as an alternative to surgical liposuction,” explains An. “So I then got one of the machines on a trial, we were the first in the UK to actually use the machine and get results within six visits. For a patient to lose four inches in just two weeks, I knew the technology was going to be a huge success.”

An knew the technology in the UK was years behind the USA, and wanted to change that. And so, Lux Clinics was born. The spacious and discreet medi clinic in Edinburgh’s Stockbridge area offers a holistic approach to inch loss and body contouring, combining the technology with the knowledge and expertise of human physiology to get maximum results.

An explains: “It was important that I offered a combined approach to body sculpting, and didn’t open a beauty salon or cosmetic clinic. Weight loss is unique to every individual, and there are many factors at play. I wanted to ensure that every client would get results before they invested in the procedure and, for the tiny minority who would not, I wanted to prescribe a bespoke plan so that they could make necessary changes allowing them to come back and get the results. Inch loss shouldn’t just be about the physical results, it’s about your health and wellbeing too.”
